Legends Summer Camp Counselors

Position: Legends Summer Camp Counselors
Location: Legacy Center Sports Complex – Brighton, MI
Duration: Part-time Seasonal
Compensation: Hourly, $15-$20 Based on experience 

Position Summary
Legends Summer Camp Full Day Counselors: Will be responsible for facilitating sport-specific morning clinics weekly, Mon-Thurs from 9:00A-11:30A and leading a group of 8-12 kids through planned afternoon camp activities from 11:30a-4:30P. Ideal candidates have previous playing and/or coaching experience in one or more of the following sports: Soccer, Baseball, Softball, Basketball, Football or Volleyball, and be comfortable working with kids and other camp staff. Coaches are needed for each of the sports listed on a consistent basis throughout the summer.

All Legends Summer Camp Staff must be at least 18 years of age. Previous experience working in a camp setting and/or working with kids and other adult staff is preferred but not required. They must be dependable, prompt, outgoing, loud, fun, enthusiastic, responsible, patient, organized, and level-headed. These qualities are necessary to create a fun and safe experience for our campers.

Camp Coach/Staff Responsibilities

  • Attend and participate in mandatory staff training prior to the first week of camp
  • Work well with campers and camp staff to ensure a positive camp experience
  • Lead/supervise campers to ensure a safe and fun day camp environment
  • Conduct, set-up and assist with daily camp activities including sports, crafts, games, etc. Encourage camper participation.
  • Greet families and campers upon arrival, assist camp director with drop-off and pick-up logistics as needed
  • Facilitate/lead camp activities as directed by the Legends Summer Day Camp Director
  • Be observant, pay close attention to interactions between campers to mediate any potential conflicts
  • Be concerned for the social adjustment of EACH camper.
  • Promote camper participation in ALL activities.
  • Take turns with other counselors for various responsibilities i.e. set-up, clean-up
  • Exhibit personal habits, health, dress, speech, table etiquette and relationships with other staff that serve as a beneficial model to campers.
  • Set a good example in ALL you do at camp. Camp is a fun learning experience.
  • Work with the camp directors and other camp staff to iron out difficulties with facilities, programs and campers.
  • Help develop, carry out and evaluate a camp program that reflects the goals of the Legends Summer Camp

Camp Staff Schedule/Hours

  • Camps begin the week of 6/10 and end the week of 8/26.
  • Full-Day staff will be expected to work 8/8:30a-4:30/5p Monday through Friday.

The Legacy Center of Michigan is looking for experienced baseball players and coaches to join its recreational soccer coaching team! The Legacy Center is home of the Legacy Baseball Organization that offers both select and recreation baseball programs. Coaches are expected to work select weekday evenings for practices (Tuesdays, Thursdays and occasional Fridays) and Saturdays or Sundays for games. Many of our coaches are current or former college baseball players that have a passion for baseball and coaching. Coaches must be comfortable and confident working with children ages 4-18yrs of age, and must display a high level of soccer knowledge and experience. The ideal candidate has an outgoing personality and excellent communication skills for both player, parent and internal coaching interactions.. Applicants should have good customer service, time management and problem solving skills as well. Training will be provided for all coaches.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Attend Legacy Center coach training course.
  • Conduct weekly practices that follow the provided curriculum.
  • Attend all team practices and games
  • Maintain knowledge of game, rules, and skills necessary for the sport.
  • Advise team in rules, game strategies, and performance principles.
  • Focus on the improvement of players and the team as a whole while keeping participation enjoyable.
  • Determine the game line up and make changes as needed.
  • Instruct and facilitate pre- and post-game procedures.
  • Communicate professionally with parents, game officials and the opposing teams.
  • Maintain and return all Legacy Center issued equipment and keep the storage areas neat and organized.
  • Use the program to educate players on the virtues of discipline, time management, team work, and academic success.
  • Communicate regularly and positively with players, parents and other coaches in regards to the season, sport, and any concerns.

Related Duties:

  • In cooperation with the Recreational Sports Coordinator and Baseball Directors, communicate with players and parents regarding schedules and changes to the schedule. Coaches are to be liaisons between the team and Recreational Sports Coordinator/Baseball Directors.
  • Elevate questions or concerns to the Recreational Sports Coordinator/Baseball Directors.
  • Running Indoor practices twice a week beginning in January until the outdoor season begins
  • Coaching in the KVBSA league play with the addition of 4-6 tournaments ending in July
  • Follow policies and procedures as presented in the Legacy Center staff handbook.
  • Make sure facilities are left clean and organized after each use.
  • Assist with end of season meeting and/or re-cap as requested.
  • Preform player evaluations as needed.
  • Participate in occasional promotional events.
  • Complete all other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age and have a valid Michigan Driver’s License
  • Two (2) years coaching experience or significant college playing experience preferred
  • Availability to commit to the entire schedule
  • Knowledge of rules and skills of particular sport
  • Willingness to place emphasis on the Legends Rec Soccer Curriculum
  • Must have a reliable form of transportation
Recreational Soccer Coach (Part-Time)

Sports Management Intern

Objective: The Sport Management Intern will be responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of said marketing, business development, and public relations plans. This will be accomplished through developing, maintaining and expanding current marketing strategies. This person will also work on projects, assist with tournaments & events, work with specific sport departments, and learn about the general management of a sports complex.

 Compensation: Unpaid

Reports to: Director of Administration

Qualifications:

  • Must be pursuing a degree in Sports Management or other applicable field
  • Must have excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize in a changing environment

Youth (Little Legends) Soccer Coach

The Little Legends Soccer program is in search of highly qualified individuals to share their talents. Little Legends is a child development program based around the game of soccer. The Instructor will lead small groups of children (ages 18 months to 9 years old) through an age appropriate curriculum.

Details:

  • Flexible schedule! Coaches work 2-15 hours per week, based on your availability.
  • Classes are typically weekday evenings, and/or  Saturday mornings.
  • Training is provided.
  • Coaches receive a free fitness/gym membership and program discounts to the Legacy Center.

 

Coach Qualifications:

  • Qualified individuals must love working with children, be highly energetic, creative, animated and patient and have a passion for providing a stimulating learning environment that is exciting and fun for kids. The ability to be loud, a great storyteller, and lead a group of children in structured games is required.
  • Experience working with children under the age of 4 years old is highly recommended.
  • Ability to work 90% of the classes scheduled within a season is a must as coach commitment to the full session and weekly classes is key and critical to the program’s success.
  • Soccer experience is not required, but preferred.
Facility Manager

Position: Legacy Center Facility Manager
Location: Legacy Center Sports Complex – Brighton, MI
Duration: Full time / Part-time
Compensation: $15.00 Hourly Rate

Position Summary
Legacy Center Facility Manager: The Legacy Center Facility Manager acts as the first point of contact for the facility. They are responsible for providing an excellent customer service experience for our guests through in-person, over the phone or electronic communication.

Facility Manager Responsibilities

  • Welcome customers to the facility.
  • Answer, screen, and forward any incoming phone calls while providing basic information or referring inquiries.
  • Assist customers with in-person / online registration and collect payment.
  • Receive and sort daily deliveries.
  • Perform office duties including everyday errands, keep front desk organized, and adjacent areas clean throughout the week.
  • Collaborate with Administrative Team Members and Sports Directors.
  • Develop a working understanding of all sports programming, events, and activities on a day-to-day basis.
  • Support Operations / Custodial with light tasks, as needed.
  • Follow all facility Policies & Procedures.

Facility Manager Requirements

  • Must be dependable with a positive attitude and capable of performing limited physical tasks.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and other various software platforms for facility management including registration, answering phones, and communication.
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal).
  • Ability to be resourceful and proactive with issues that may arise.
  • Ability to organize, multi-task, prioritize, and work well under pressure.
  • Team-oriented and able to interact with multiple departments (i.e., Sports, Marketing, etc.).
  • Willingness to take on new tasks and assignments when required.
  • Ability to work independently, accept responsibility with limited supervision.
  • Must be available to work afternoons, evenings, and weekends.

Sports Intern

Position Summary
Legacy Center Sports Intern: The Legacy Center Sports Intern will be responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of marketing, business development, and public relation strategies/plans. This individual will report directly to a respective Sport Director with an assist from Legacy Center Administrative Staff. This person will work on projects, assist with tournaments & events, and learn about the daily operations of Legacy Center Sports Complex.

Sports Intern Responsibilities

  • Develop a working understanding of all sports programming, events, and activities on a day-to-day basis.
  • Collaborate with Administrative Team Members and Sports Directors.
  • Fulfilling tasks set out by supervisors from several departments.
  • Performing research at a supervisor’s request.
  • Follow all facility Policies & Procedures.
