Ballet & Jazz

This class combines both Ballet and Jazz.  In Ballet students will learn classical ballet techniques and terminology. Each class includes center floor work and across-the-floor combinations. Ballet provides grace, poise, and technique needed to be proficient in all other areas of dance.  Dancers learn basic technical skills including jazz walk, chaine turns, single pirouettes, jetes, kicks, and much more. Jazz builds dancers’ style and confidence while working on musicality and the ability to pick up choreography and connect steps and skills together with fun, upbeat music.

Required: pink ballet shoes, tights and leotard (any color), hair pulled up.  Dancers can wear ballet shoes or go barefoot during Jazz (Jazz shoes are not required for pre-ballet & Jazz) – NO JEANS

Ballet & Tap 

Dancers will enjoy this interactive class that incorporates both Ballet and Tap. In Ballet students will be introduced to classical ballet techniques and terminology. Each class includes center floor work and across-the-floor combinations. Ballet provides grace, poise, and technique needed to be proficient in all other areas of dance.

Students learn to create rhythms with their feet during the tap portion of class. Classes focus on the development of a sharpened sense of rhythm, coordination, and clarity of sounds. Tap is a wonderful activity to nurture a sense of rhythm and timing.

Required: pink ballet shoes & black tap shoes, tights and leotard (any color), hair pulled up.  – NO JEANS

Jazz,  Hip Hop & Pom   

Hip Hop, Jazz & Pom is our popular class concept that infuses the funky style of hip hop, sharp cheer like motions in pom, with the technical side of jazz. Students will learn the fundamentals of each style such as isolations and flexibility. This class will encourage students to dance outside of the box and bring their own personality to each movement.

Hip hop dancing represents body movements that go with the beat and rhythm of hip hop dancing.  Students will break down steps and techniques and bring style and personality to the movement. Jazz combines traditional, theatrical and contemporary jazz with the ever changing styles of today. Dancers learn basic technical skills including jazz walk, chaine turns, single pirouettes, jetes, kicks, and much more. Jazz builds dancers’ style and confidence while working on musicality and the ability to pick up choreography and connect steps and skills together with fun, upbeat music.  Pom incorporates the use of proper pom motion technique that is sharp, clean and precise while incorporating other dance styles including jazz and hip hop. Pom teams make cheer-like movements to fast paced music. 

Required: Tan Jazz Shoes, form fitting clothing (tank top, leotard, capri yoga/dance pants, jazz pants, etc).   – NO JEANS

Jazz & Pom 

This class incorporates both Jazz and Pom in an upbeat, fun learning environment.  Dancers learn basic technical skills including jazz walk, chaine turns, single pirouettes, jetes, kicks, and much more. Jazz builds dancers’ style and confidence while working on musicality and the ability to pick up choreography and connect steps and skills together with fun, upbeat music.  Pom is a mix of both cheer and dance. Pom teams make cheer-like movements to fast paced music. Dancers will learn different types of jumps and kicks.

Required: Tan Jazz Shoes, form fitting clothing (tank top, fitted shirt, leggings, shorts, etc), hair pulled up- NO JEANS

This is a popular combination of dance genres including Lyrical, Hip Hop, & Jazz.  Students will learn the fundamentals of each style such as isolations and flexibility. This class will encourage students to dance outside of the box and bring their own personality to each movement.

Parent Tot Creative Movement 

Creative Movement – This class is the perfect introduction to music and movement for the very young child, ages 1-3.  Focus is on coordination and rhythm which are introduced in creative and imaginative ways using many props such as scarves, ribbons, shakers, and much more. Keeping students entertained while learning beginning dance skills will help them to acquire a lifelong love for dance.  Parents participate in the Parent/Tot class only, the parent/tot class will not participate in the December recital.

Required: Comfortable clothing or ballet attire. (ballet attire not required for this class)

Pre-school Aged Classes 

Creative movement activities are incorporated in our classes for ages 2.5-5 years old.  Focus is on coordination and rhythm which are introduced in creative and imaginative ways using many props such as scarves, ribbons, shakers, and much more. Keeping students entertained while learning beginning dance skills will help them to acquire a lifelong love for dance. Parents do not participate or watch during class. We have parent watch days throughout the session.

Tap & Hip Hop

This is a popular combination of dance genres including Tap & Hip Hop.  This class will encourage students to dance outside of the box and bring their own personality to each movement.

Hip hop dancing represents body movements that go with the beat and rhythm of hip hop dancing. Students will break down steps and techniques and bring style and personality to the movement.  Tap is a unique style of dance involving specific and rapid footwork. The dancer’s foot and shoe essentially act as a drum, and each part of the shoe makes a particular beat and sound. Classes focus on the development of a sharpened sense of rhythm, coordination, and clarity of sounds.

Required: Tennis shoes for hip hop, Black Tap shoes, Loose fitting clothing (no jeans), long hair pulled up.
