Dance Class Descriptions
We offer a variety of classes for ages 1+.  Each dance session may vary, please see the current schedule for classes offered.
Ballet

Ballet students will be introduced to classical ballet techniques and terminology. Each class includes center floor work and across-the-floor combinations. Ballet provides grace, poise, and technique needed to be proficient in all other areas of dance.  In our younger classes creative movement activities are incorporated using imagination and creativity.  Dancers use scarves, ribbons, shakers, etc, keeping students entertained while learning beginning dance skills will help them to acquire a lifelong love for dance.

Baton Twirling
Twirling is a great activity for young children because it helps them develop spatial awareness, fine motor skills, as well as hand-eye coordination.  Twirling combines dance and gymnastics while manipulating one, two or three batons.  Twirlers will also work on kicks, leaps, and flexibility which is incorporated into routines.

Hip Hop
Hip hop is a fun and fast-moving class taught in a positive environment that encourages dancers to not only improve technique, but to engage in freestyle/improvisational dance and build confidence and performance style. Students will learn the fundamentals of each style such as isolations and flexibility. This class will encourage students to dance outside of the box and bring their own personality to each movement. Hip hop dancing represents body movements that go with the beat and rhythm of hip hop dancing.

Jazz
Dancers learn basic technical skills including jazz walk, chaine turns, single pirouettes, jetes, kicks, and much more. Jazz builds dancers’ style and confidence while working on musicality and the ability to pick up choreography and connect steps and skills together with fun, upbeat music. In our younger classes creative movement activities are incorporated using imagination and creativity.  Dancers use scarves, ribbons, shakers, etc, keeping students entertained while learning beginning dance skills will help them to acquire a lifelong love for dance.
Lyrical

Lyrical dance is a combination of ballet and jazz dance that often uses music with lyrics to inspire the movements of the dancer. Lyrical dance is generally a little more fluid than ballet and also somewhat faster although not as rapidly executed as jazz dance.  Lyrical is a very passionate and emotional dance style. It portrays certain emotions and tells a story through every movement made.

Parent Tot Creative Movement
This class is the perfect introduction to music and movement for the very young child, ages 1-3.  Focus is on coordination and rhythm which are introduced in creative and imaginative ways using many props such as scarves, ribbons, shakers, and much more.
